Aundh is around 10 minutes from the Mumbai-Pune Expressway. Aundh is divided into old Aundh village and the newly developed places, with the latter being one of the poshest places in Pune city. Baner, Dapodi and Khadki with areas like Parihar Chowk, Sakal Nagar etc. are neighbouring to Aundh. Khadki has number of defence cantonments like the Ammunition Factory, the military hospital among others.
Residential development in Aundh started in mid 1990s as many IT companies found their way inside Pune. The area has many new constructions which have all the modern day amenities. Many prime developers like Kumar Properties, Goel Ganga Group, Paranjape Schemes, DSK builders, Kalpataru Ltd. and Nirmiti Developers have developed their projects here.
Due to the Hinjewadi IT Park, there is demand for Aundh with many IT professionals choosing it as their residence. Sound connectivity and infrastructure are added advantages for the development of Aundh. The Mumbai-Pune Express highway is also well connected to Aundh, making it one of the prime destinations. Due to its connectivity to the express way, the state and city buses halt near Aundh. There is a MSRTC bus stop for going to Mumbai at Parihar chowk.
The place is self sufficient and has almost all necessities in its vicinity. The Industrial Training Institute (ITI) is situated in Aundh and so is the Pune University. Schools like DAV Public School, Vidhyapeth High School are some of the schools in this area. Apart from the University, colleges like Spicer Memorial College, Babasaheb Ambedkar Mahavidyalaya are present here.
